ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) – The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is urging anyone who has not been vaccinated against the measles to get vaccinated.
Since mid September, there have been 25 new cases of measles confirmed in two different parts of the state and all were unvaccinated.
The current total for measles cases in Minnesota for 2026 is 42 and, given how contagious the measles are, the case count is likely to grow in the weeks ahead.
After being eliminated in the U-S for decades, the disease is again circulating around the country and nationwide over 4,000 cases have now been confirmed.
The Department of Health says measles can make people very sick especially infants, young children and those who are pregnant or have underlying conditions.
Prevention through vaccination is the best thing to do since anyone who is not vaccinated is at risk.
The MDH says, no matter your age, it is never too late to get vaccinated and more information can be provided by your health care provider.
