ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) – Cooler weather and shorter days means that the fall colors will soon be arriving in Minnesota.
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is launching their weekly fall color newsletter online with a color timing forecast and tips on finding the best places to view them.
There are many factors that influence the timing and how vibrant the fall colors will be. They include shorter days and dropping temperatures but the ongoing drought could also have a subtle impact.
The DNR says the lack of precipitation can lessen the brilliance of some colors and also cause some trees to change color and drop leaves early.
The first of the weekly fall color reports is available Thursday (9-10) at https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/fall_colors/index.html
