Aug 24 (Field Level Media) – The New York Yankees optioned right-hander Brendan Beck to Triple-AScranton/Wilkes-Barre, with the New York Post reporting that right-handerJustin Topa is expected to be recalled.
Beck, 27, made his major league debut in May and is 0-1 with a 9.45 ERA in twoappearances.
Topa, 35, was signed as a free agent by the Yankees on Aug. 14 after he wasreleased by the Minnesota Twins, Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals thisseason. He has a 1.80 ERA in four Triple-A appearances in the Yankees’ system.
Over parts of seven major league seasons, Topa is 6-11 with a 4.27 ERA in 172appearances (one start) for the Milwaukee Brewers (2020-2022), SeattleMariners (2023) and Twins (2024-26). He was 0-1 with an 8.05 ERA in 23appearances with Minnesota this season.
An additional move will have to be made by the Yankees to get Topa on the40-man roster.
