Oct 15 (Field Level Media) – Ottawa Senators forward William Eklund will be sidelined 10-12 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a torn tendon in his ankle, Travis Green announced Thursday.
Eklund sustained the injury after being hit into the boards by Philadelphia defenseman Simon Benoit during the first period of the Senators’ 2-1 win over the Flyers on Oct. 8. He was unable to place weight on his left leg while leaving the ice.
Eklund, 24, has two points (one goal, one assist) in four games this season.
He has totaled 165 points (51 goals, 114 assists) in 256 career games with the San Jose Sharks and Senators. He was selected by the Sharks with the seventh overall pick of the 2021 NHL Draft and traded to the Senators on June 23.
