SEOUL, Sept 16 (Reuters) – A Seoul court on Wednesday ordered North Korea to pay 44.6 billion won ($32.5 million) in damages over its 2020 demolition of an inter-Korean liaison office, marking the first judgment in a lawsuit brought by the South Korean government against North Korea, Yonhap News Agency reported.
South Korea’s previous conservative government, led by former President Yoon Suk Yeol, filed the suit in June 2023, before Yoon was ousted from office after his short-lived December 2024 martial law declaration.
