DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Superior National Forest has issued an emergency order for campfire restrictions within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area effective on Saturday (6/6).
The order restricts starting, building, maintaining or using a fire or campfire and also includes charcoal grills and wood burning stoves.
However, gas or propane cook stoves are still allowed.
The restrictions will continue until June 30th in the BWCA unless extended or rescinded.
The potential for wildfire continues to be high in most of northern Minnesota and it’s important that people be careful with any source of ignition such as smoking and recreational vehicles.
