DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Brighton Beach in Duluth will be temporarily closed to visitors starting Monday as Lakewalk construction begins there.
The relocation of the Lakewalk will move it further from the shoreline which will be fortified to better endure Lake Superior storms.
The park will reopen to paddlers, cyclists and pedestrians in about 12 weeks.
Brighton Beach will then close entirely next spring for about a year while reconstruction and installation of new park amenities continue.
Motor vehicle access will not be restored until the end of a road construction project in the spring of 2023.
Until then, the only access will be by the Lakewalk or Brighton Beach Hiking Trail.
