DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Duluth Fire Department is using an old hotel, slated for demolition next month, as a training facility.
The Esmond Building, formerly the Seaway Hotel, is affording firefighters the first site for this type of training since 2019.
The building is being used for search and rescue and various fire attack scenarios.
Fake smoke is pumped in to create environments that would be similar to what might be encountered in a real fire situation.
Training is being conducted at the site, 2001 West Superior Street, Monday through Friday from 9 to 4 over the next several weeks.
