DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Duluth Airport has released passenger numbers for the year 2020.
The 130,994 passengers through the Duluth International Airport last year was a 59 percent decrease from the year before.
With fewer passengers, United and Delta Airlines have adjusted the type of aircraft used in Duluth. Delta is now operating four daily flights to the Twin Cities using 69 and 76 passenger planes and United is doing one flight per day to Chicago on a 76 passenger aircraft.
As travel demands increase, additional flights and larger planes would be added to the schedule.
The Duluth Airport COVID mitigation plan includes masks, plexiglass barriers and thorough, frequent disinfecting of all seating areas.
Despite the decrease in passenger traffic in Duluth, the TSA reports that the airport retained 20 percent more passengers in 2020 than the national average.
