DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – An early morning fire Thursday in a seven unit apartment has left eleven residents displaced.
The Duluth Fire Department responded to reports of the fire at 1701 East 1st Street around 4:30 a-m to find heavy smoke coming from two floors of the three story building.
The eleven residents who were home at the time of the fire had safely evacuated although one had a minor burn injury.
Three cats perished in the blaze and another was found alive and is expected to survive.
The residents of the multi-family home are being assisted by the Red Cross.
Damage estimates were set a 150 thousand dollars to the building and contents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s Office.
