DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A wintery mix of heavy snow, significant freezing rain, sleet and very strong winds will slam much of the region Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday.
The National Weather Service Office in Duluth has issued a Winter Storm Warning for most of northern Minnesota including Duluth from 11 a-m Tuesday to 7 p-m Wednesday.
Following a Winter Weather Advisory, an Ice Storm Warning for Douglas, Bayfield, Ashland and Iron Counties in Wisconsin will be in effect from 7 p-m Tuesday to 10 a-m Wednesday.
Mixed precipitation will result in snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches and two to three tenths of an inch of ice.
Winds near the lake will gust as high as 60 miles per hour and temporary blizzard conditions are expected on Tuesday afternoon making travel nearly impossible.
Power outages and tree damage is likely because of the ice accumulation and winds.
A few rumbles of thunder is also possible Tuesday afternoon and night.
High temperatures will be in the upper 20’s on Tuesday and mid 30’s for Wednesday.
