UNDATED (KDAL) – An F-16 from the 148th Fighter Wing in Duluth, flying out of Madison, shot down an unidentified object over Lake Huron Sunday.
The Department of Defense says the path and altitude of the object was concerning.
The object, flying at 20,000 feet was shot down around 2:45 p-m Sunday over the Canadian waters of Lake Huron after being tracked flying over the U-P of Michigan.
In a statement, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said he was proud of the airmen of the 148th for the successful federal mission.
It was the 4th flying object to be shot down over North America in just over a week. Officials are now working to recover the object.
