DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – More than 2 million short tons of iron ore were shipped out of the Port of Duluth-Superior in October.
The shipping season iron ore total is 16.4 short tons which exceeds the five year average by 16 percent.
Overall, shipping in the Twin Ports is 2.5 percent above the five season average and 33 percent better than the COVID affected 2020 marks.
Other highlights were general cargo and cement inbound shipments which were at five season highs.
The Chamber of Marine Commerce says 28.5 metric tons of cargo has moved through the St. Lawrence Seaway this season which is up just under 2 percent from last year.
