DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Duluth’s Clure Public Marine Terminal now has the ability to handle significantly larger volumes of international shipping containers.
Port officials say that recent infrastructure investments have allowed Duluth to become only the second U-S port on the Great Lakes capable of handling containers by direct water connection.
Considering the significant delays at coastal ports, Executive Director of the Port Authority, Deb DeLuca, says Duluth now provides an alternative for containers to move inland and bypass the coastal bottlenecks.
Through Duluth Cargo Connect, shipping containers arriving at the port can then be moved on land with easy access to the region’s rail and highway system.
