GRAND PORTAGE, MN (KDAL) – Erin Letzring crossed the finish line seven seconds ahead of last year’s champion Ryan Redington to win the 2021 John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon on Tuesday.
The two Alaskan mushers, Letzring and Redington, ran neck and neck through the final leg of the 300 mile race from Duluth to Grand Portage.
Letzring is the first female musher to win the race since 1998.
Finishing third was Sarah Keefer from Burnsville, Minnesota.
