WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis (WSAU) A Wisconsin Rapids man will spend 3-years in prison for causing a fatal car crash last year while he was driving without a valid license.
22-year-old John French was sentenced in Wood County court. Last December he crashed 32-year-old Robert Walker of Saratoga, killing him. At the time French was on probation for a 2009 burglary charge for a home break-in in Nekoosa. Under the terms of his parole he was only allowed to drive to work and court appearances.
French was given credit for more than 200 days in jail. He'd been back behind bars since the crash for violating parole.
