Miguel Cabrera ripped a three-run homer in the third inning to help the Tigers continue their recent dominance of the Twins with a 4-to-2 victory over Minnesota last night at Comerica Park.
The sweep of the three game series gives the Tigers nine straight wins over the Twins, Detroit's longest such streak since 1950 when the Twins were the Washington Senators. Rick Porcello tossed six-and-two-third strong innings to earn the victory and boost his record to 5-and-3.
The Tiger’s fourth straight win keeps them 5-games behind the Central Division leading Indians, who beat the Blue Jays. The Twin’s 17-and-37 record is their worst start through a third of the season since 1982.
Detroit has the day off today before opening a 3-game series tomorrow night against the White Sox in Chicago. Yesterday afternoon, the White Sox finished off a 3-game sweep at Boston with a 7-to-4 win over the Red Sox. And the Cubs lost 3-to-1 to Houston at Wrigley Field.
